MTC Blog Hop - Home Page |
The purpose of this month long blog hop is to bring attention to the AMAZING program that can be used with a wide variety of cutting machines! The program is MAKE-THE-CUT (more lovingly referred to as MTC). If you haven't checked out this software yet...what are you waiting for??? :) Click on the link below to go the Make-the-Cut website.
Make-the-Cut Official Website |
MTC works with so many cutting machines and Andy (the creator of MTC) has made it so user friendly it is simply amazing!! To see some of the machines this software works with click on the link for the MTC Blog Hop above.
I wanted to focus for a moment on some of the incredible things you can do with MTC and a compatible cutting machine. So here we go.............
- Full WYSIWYG Printer Support for Print-and-Cut! (WYSIWYG =What You See Is What You Get)
- Check out the first Print-and-Cut I did with my Black Cat Cougar "Clawdine" a few posts down from this one :)
- WYSIWYG Interface
- Preview/Import Any SVG, TTF, OTF, PDF or SCUT File
- Export shapes in PDF, SVG, EPS, AI and PNG formats
- Integrated SVG Gallery with over 2000 files and growing!
- Work on Multiple Projects at a Time
- Choose From 3 Standard Mat Size
- Use Any Installed Font or Import TTF/OTF Files
- Convert Raster (PNG, GIF, JPG, etc.) Images to Cuttable
- Easily Create Lattices
- Break/Split/Layer Shapes and Edit Them (my favorite at this point - so easy to take coloring pages and turn them into cutting files!)
- Weld/Join Shapes Together
- Place text and/or objects on Bezier paths (I think of this as "warping")
- Create custom background shadows from any shape
- Cut, Copy and Paste Shapes with Inkscape and Illustrator!
- And SO MUCH MORE!!!!!!
OK so before we get to my project a little bit about my life with MTC and my cutter...........I purchased Make-the-Cut to enhance my cutting abilities and to maybe learn a little on designing my own files. I fell in love with the software but my two cutting machines did not like the detailed cuts I was trying to do and couldn't cut a circle to save my life!!! So in March of this year I purchased an 18" Black Cat Cougar (Clawdine is her name) and I LOVE IT! I can use the Make-the-Cut software with Clawdine with no worries and oh my goodness the things it does!! From simple things -- like cutting true circles -- all the way up to engraving metal, embossing, drawing with a variety of pens and oh yeah...fabulous Print and Cuts. Clawdine and MTC are like a pair made in heaven!
I am not much of a creative genius when it comes to creating from scratch my own files, so I shop a little (OK more than a little) for great SVG and MTC files. Many I find for free but I also purchase files as well. One of my favorite places to purchase files is at SVG Cuts . They have FABULOUS files at fantastic prices.
OK on to my projects.................
Mother's Day is fast approaching and when I saw these great files in the Lunch with Mom file set at SVG Cuts I fell in love with them (as I do so many of their files!). My mother passed away three years ago and a few years prior to that my father passed away. So Mother's Day and Father's Day have not been a real big item on my calendar for a while now. For Mother's Day this year I created this memorial to my mother............. Barbara J. Stinnett
This now proudly hangs in my living room. Next will be to create a tribute to my father. |
Here you can see the swirls a bit better. They cut so beautifully on Clawdine! |
These 3D flowers are cut small enough that they are 3D but still fit fine inside the glass of the picture frame |
The other 3D flower. |
I used the 3D flowers and the swirls found in the Lunch with Mom file set, painted the frame pink and used a font from my computer to do the text. Another great feature in MTC is the ability to use any font on your computer (already installed) or other fonts you have stored on your computer. MTC allows you to shadow the lettering to create a two dimensional affect and also allows you to weld the letters together if you like. What an AMAZING program!! I LOVE my MTC!!!
I also created this ever so cute strawberry teapot bag that Mary at SVG Cuts designed. It can be found in the Lunch with Mom set as well!
This is so cute! It is all ready to put a gift inside it and give to someone............. or keep for myself as it looks so darn cute sitting on top of my computer desk! |
Instead of making a different colored handle for the teapot I put glossy accents on the handle portion. |
Now don't forget to click the link under the MTC Blog Hop icon at the top of this post to check back tomorrow to see the next great project by another proud MTC user!
Have a great time hopping through the other blogs on this fantastic MTC Blog Hop for the Month of May and if you haven't been to my site before please feel free to look around and grab some free MTC or SVG files I have on here. HAPPY CRAFTING!!
God Bless,
KathyB
Fantastic projects! I love SVG cuts too~! Unfortunately I have SCAL instead of MTC. Can I tell you what I like about these similar programs? The versatility and ability to create your own files without having to have a whole library of cartridges. Thanks for sharing. joy4umetoo at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy, I love your tribute to your mom! It is just beautiful. What do I love about MTC? Everything! I just discovered the "to each its own" layer feature. Love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth (EliEli46 on the MTC forum)
I love Make the Cut. The support from Andy and Anne and Brian is amazing. Web tutorials every Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is so easy to use, the interface was definitely written for a crafter vs. a techie.

Hi Kathy! I love MTC for its versatility - it can be used by some many cutters and allows us to follow our imagination. nelda at MTC forum (email in my profile there)
ReplyDeleteKathy...what a beautiful memory box of your mother! I love MTC because it opens a whole new world of scrapbooking to me. No more limits! :) The forum is an excellent source of ideas and knowledge...I stop in everyday to see what everyones been creating.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win!
Hugs...Kathy
Kathy,
ReplyDeleteWhat do I love about MTC? Where to begin. Well as you mentioned the ability to cut any font I want. How about free and/or reasonably priced svg's that other designers offer on the internet. Including svgcuts.com which I am a customer already. My favorite functions. Boolean joins and shadow layer. I use them in 99% of my projects. Andy is a great developer who created an easy to use fully function program and not only that..he listens to what his users want so customer support is a++++++++. Does anyone need more reasons to buy this program? buy already!
Christine (MTCFAN on the MTC forum)
What a beautiful tribute to your mom Kathy. What I love about MTC is the ease of use and the great features Andy has put in . And the fact that he is continually working on making it even better. The support on the forum is amazing. thanks for the hop. Maxine from mtc forum
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful tribute to your mom. I lost my mom just a few days before you, she passed on Feb 18, 2008. This really makes me want to do something similar for her.
ReplyDeleteWhat do I love about MTC? I love everything about MTC!! I received my cutter for Christmas & the first thing I did was look for software to use with it. I had to have MTC as soon as I found it. I just knew it was the right one for me. It lets me do anything I want & the customer service and support are second to none!
Thank you so much for the chance to win a gift card from SVGCuts.com!!

Great projects! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love absolutely everything about MTC. Before MTC was created, I spent so much time and money creating projects and couldn't really create the things I had invisioned because I was limited to buying images or embellishments for all my projects. Now I can create exactly what I imagine for my projects! What's not to love about MTC...it ROCKS!!

What I LOVE about MTC is the "freedom to create whatever I want." I am not limited to just files I buy. When I see a cute idea, I can build a similar one myself. The other great thing which you won't find anywhere else are the webinars and tutorials. No other software bothers to do this. The makers of the software want you to be able to use the product to its fullest potential. Everyone is so helpful on the forum.
ReplyDeleteKathy, what a great tribute to your mom. I am sure she would love it.

ReplyDeleteThank you so very much and I love your 3d flowers---sooo cute!
Kathy, your tribute to your mother is beautiful! I love the flowers you made. What I like about MTC...EVERYTHING! It gives me the freedom to create using my own vision. I love being able to use fonts off my computer too.
ReplyDeleteThat little teapot is awfully cute as well!

DeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteLove the tribute to your mother and she looks like mine at that age.
I love MTC because it is so easy to do so many hard things. It just made sense from the moment I tried it. I have to know how to use 4 different softwares for my machines. MTC is the winner.

Beautiful tribute!
ReplyDeleteMTC...hmmm...it's better than cake and ice cream!!! 'nuf said...LOL
Great site! I love having the ability to design my own projects using vinyl. In using the program I'm able to use my material more effiently with less waste than using cartridges.

Love your tribute to your mom. I lost my mom too a couple years ago. Need to do something like this for her and also my hubby's mom.
ReplyDeleteWhen I discovered MTC, I discovered a whole new world that I didn't know existed. Really opened my eyes as to what I could create with my computer. thanks so much for this great project!
Wow!!! Loved your tribute to your mother and am sorry for the loss of her; I cannot imagine. I looked through your whole site while I was here; I thought your designs are really awesome. Your older post are pretty cool to say the least. Really loved your site; it is now in my favorites list! Thanks for sharing! MTC curly girl
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job you did! It sure shows all the love you put into your creation. I love MTC for the support and all the learning opportunities it provides. The crafters on the MB are fantastic and extremely helpful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mother, and beautiful page!!
ReplyDeleteKathy, what do I love about MTC? It is user friendly, I can create my own files, it is much easier than Design Studio. I can buy collections of SVG files for less than 10 dollars and I don't have to pay $90 for a cartridge with only one or two images I will use!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win! Love your Mother's frame.
Happy cutting!

ReplyDeleteI can't pick any one thing that I love about MTC, I love everything about it.

You are all so kind and thank you for the wonderful comments! MTC is just the most incredible software out there for crafters. Without it and the "family" on the MTC forum my crafting projects would be so limited and no where near what I have learned over the past two years! God bless you all!
ReplyDeleteLove MTC because it is so easy to use and I can use .svg files also. Thanks for the chance to win.

I love your tribute to your mom. My mom passed a while back and Mothers Days are always bad for me. We used to celebrate my birthday at the same time. I think I'll do something similar for my mother.
ReplyDeleteI love the way Make-the-Cut allows you to use any fonts on your machine. I also love that I can add an underline so it's all one piece. I always have trouble lining up my cut letters.

MTC is SO easy to use! And there are so many things you can do with it... I have just begun to play with it. Bought it in February, still using it with my Cricut as long as possible. If I could afford it I'd buy a new cutter, because I'm sure not giving up MTC!
ReplyDeletesuekimmet at gamil dot com
Hi Kathy, I love your memorial to your Mom. How special. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my MTC! It is the only reason I even bought the cutter I have. I use it for designing all the time, not just for cutting. I'm Reba1 on the forum and my email is in my profile.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note to let you know that a link to this post will be placed on CraftCrave in the Cutting category today [04 May 01:00am GMT]. Thanks, Maria
ReplyDeleteGreat tribute to your mother and I can't wait to see the one you do for your father!!! Now to tell you one thing that I love about MTC...hmmm...I don't think I can just tell you one thing. The main thing is the support from everyone from the creator to the forum members!! It's fantastic!!! So many cutters are able to use MTC with the full permission of the companies that own the cutters (they know a good thing when they see it!!!)
ReplyDeleteZenita aka scrappinwithz
I love the how easy it is to MTC. I still consider myself a new user but i just learned how to mport images into a shape. Its cool!

Wow, such a great layout and teapot bag. I love MTC because it is so easy to use. There are so many files available (both free and otherwise) that make it so much fun. I purchased the Lunch with Mom set. Can't wait to use it. I am a new follower and thanks for the chance to win more SVG cuts files. patnbobcuddy at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI need to win MTC so I can know what to love about it! Since I don't own it, I can't love it yet, but maybe there's a contest somewhere that I can enter. I do love Mary and Leo's website, though!
ReplyDeleteThe tribute to your mom is beautiful! I love my MTC...until this year, I mostly used it for specific projects and for fonts. This year, I'm slowly learning how to use SVG's and such! It is so wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteShannon_Corbin@live.com
Hi Kathy!!!! What a cute layout! I LOVE my make the cut's versatility for uses... Print and Cut, Paper Piecing, Digital Design, Digistamps, getting words onto a preset shape (like a card) and so on. It has definitely made my crafting easier!
ReplyDeleteDana .... svgandmtc files at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI love my MTC- I am a beginner- did not use my Cricut too much- just for cutting for a sorority scrapbook. I will be using it more now though- LOVE what I am seeing and following tutorials to learn more- I am soooo excited!!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love my MTC, so much so I find i spend most of my time using the computer to create my cards and scrapbook pages. My favorite feature is pixel trace :)
